Jessica Rabbit for Battle-Artist (www.battle-artist.com).
This weeks challenge was this fair lady.
I thought about how to avoid just copying directly from the film, and then thought "hey -it'd be awesome trying 2 do a Michael Turner inspired version of it...just to see if i can, and how it'll turn out". Never actually tried to draw like him, but think he was such an amazing artist. So chose to take Jessica's traits --> HUGE boobs, very narrow waist, sparkly dress and very femme fatale-ish. The proportions being so exaggerated was kinda doing my head in tbh.
Tried as well to catch a kinda 20's old photograph-sepia feeling. Most of the film the viewer is left in doubt whether she's good guy or bad guy, so tried to get that feel innit as well.
Btw drawing a gun from front is pretty difficult lol. It's basically like a hole with a handle...how in the world to make that look cool or menacing!?
Well this is a bit of a chancer, cause she deviates so much from the...ehm "real" Jessica, so hope u guys dig it.
Pls pls pls give some criticism, and be brutal! Every little drop is a huge help for me to improve!
This freaking amazing, the only suggestion I have is maybe not to desaturate her dress so much. Other than that fantastic job and I hope you win the battle.
Your welcome, Im glad you enjoyed the tip. I really like this version of Jessica Rabbit. I have seen others attempts at making Jessica Rabbit look realistic, but so far I think you have done the best. I really like how you conveyed the overall feel and emotion of the original Jessica Rabbit from the movie while making her look more like she would if she were pulled out of the movie into the real world.
